The Scott Expedition

Following 105 days in Antarctica British adventurers Ben Saunders and Tarka L’Herpiniere have officially made the first completion of Scott’s iconic 1,795 mile Terra Nova route from the very coast of Antarctica to the South Pole and back. Pushing the outer limits of physical and mental endurance the Scott Expedition is the longest polar man-haul in history and will be the next chapter in one of the greatest stories of polar exploration ever told. Read Ben’s blog here.

I’ve been following this expedition since it began five months ago. This was the first expedition of its kind to be updated and shared daily via social media. In a small way it allowed me to join Ben and Tarka on their journey and get a sense of the challenges these two explorers faced. I don’t think it received the attention it deserved, but you can still go back and read the journal entries and watch the videos. Really engaging stuff!
